Project Details:
Built in 2001 and located on Lake Coeur d’Alene Lake. Designed by Anderson Architecture. Lots of angles and shapes make this home very interesting unique but at the same time it blends well into the forest setting. There is 4,554 sq ft of living space on 2 levels.
This home has a very unique deck in that the surface is made from a south American hardwood called ‘Ipe'(pronounced epay) It is 172% harder than oak! We installed the 1″thick decking boards with hidden fasteners which gives the surface a beautiful clean look. The wood looks similar to mahogany but its is better fitted for exterior use. In my last visit to the home in 2013, 12 years after it was installed. I was amazed at the unchanged beauty of the wood although Ipe has to have continual restaining it remains looking natural unlike cedar and redwood which, regardless of staining become an ugly surface in 4 or 5 years.

About
Mountain Haven Custom Homes, started in 1998 by Dennis Ployhar who, prefers working hands-on in every project building only a certain amount of homes each year. The company is concentrated on residential construction pro-jects that would be individual and unique. The projects are built using a regular team of small business owners and workers whereby we are value driven versus volume driven. Dennis was raised in MT and has lived in Coeurd’Alene since his college graduation. Dennis & his wife Susie love the Coeur d’Alene region and its people raising their 3 kids here.
