How it’s Done

What to Expect

  • Budget— We provide a rough estimate and explain how different materials affect the cost.
  •  Loans— We are familiar with the local banks and know the process they require.
  • Property selection— A property can hide huge expenses. Many factors should be considered before purchasing. A wrong choice can shatter the dream or delay it.
  • Plans — The design has to fit the budget or it will spoil the dream. Again, we will recommend what works with the budget.
  • Easy to understand Proposals, invoicing and other financial forms— We try to make the financial process clear and concise. We value the trusting partnership more than anything.
  • Project progress— We provide a schedule of the different steps along the way and when we think you can move-in.
  • Selections— There are a lot of selections, Oh my! We can help by directing you to the many sources and by providing you with a selection time list so, you know your deadlines.
  • Disappointments— we don’t provide these, they just happen without fail. Something doesn’t arrive or it’s wrong. Be ready, it will happen but we are problem solvers and still, we make the process go as smoothly as possible.
  • Happiness— This happens when you move in. The pinch me moment that happens month after month. This is the best part for Mountain Haven Custom Homes and we want it to be fun.

Building Philosophy

  • We build for longevity— by adding extra measures of protection against the weather and by using better materials in our projects. Something we have been doing for more than 20 years of which now, some of those items are being required by the new building codes. Things we have done all along.

  • We utilize the same workforce or tradesmen—This creates more of a team environment where the guys communicate better with each other and already know what MHCH’s expects of them.

  • We typically acquire and work with tradesmen who are small business owners— In this way, we usually see the same workers on the job site (maybe even the owner). The small business will have lower prices because of their low overhead versus a large corporation. With this in mind, MHCH’s does not acquire unknowns or those whom we feel, will not be a permanent business.

  • We use tried and tested products—we avoid using products new on the market. (Would rather let someone else try them out) There are some products that turn out defective in just a few years or as long as 20 years. Even so, if the new and undocumented product has a lifetime warranty, it might be worthless because the company that made it does not exist after 15 years.

  • The advantage of building Additions has been the ability to see how the work was done in the past. In doing so, we discover what products or techniques worked well over the years and what did not. Learning firsthand what is successful and what has been a failure. This knowledge gives us a better understanding of what works the best.
